Genesis 1-6

GENESIS chapters 1 – 6

Chapter 1 –

What was the most important element / thing / part of creation?  Why?

Outside of your relationship with God, what part of creation brings the most joy to you?   Why?

I am presuming that your relationship with God is the most enjoyable.  If it is not, have a conversation with God asking Him to give you joy in your relationship.  Only you and God will know about this conversation.   It is important that you start this Bible study in complete honesty with God.   Psalm 51:12 reveals the Psalmist asking God to restore the joy of salvation.  You are not alone, if in this is the season of your life, there is no joy.  But I do believe you have to ask for it.

Chapter 2 –

How do you define a Sabbath day?

Do you have a Sabbath set apart for God?

If you do have a day, you set apart for God, how do you explain it to someone who may ask you?

What was most important in this chapter?  Why?

Chapter 3 –

How do you try to hide?  Think about this.  It will take the Spirit to reveal it to you.

Is it healthy to have secrets? Why or why not?

What secrets do you keep? (A secret is different than a surprise. You may be planning a surprise party, and one day everyone will know about it. I am asking about something you do not want anyone to know about, regardless of the reason) I will encourage to write this on a separate piece of paper. I don’t want you to skip this question. You may not want to write it for fear someone else may read it. But your honesty with God about this secret is important for your real talk with God.

Write a prayer to God about your walk with Him.  It doesn’t have to be an expose’.  A few sentences or a paragraph.  This is a good exercise to help you develop real talk with God.

Chapter 4 –

Do you think Abel was more favored than Cain by Adam and/or Eve?  Why or why not?

Did Cain kill as a spur of the moment decision?  Explain your reason.

Chapter 5 –

If you could ask a question to a relative who lived 200 years ago; What would you ask them? Think about the era, and society which would have existed at the time.

Lamech came to the conclusion that his revenge is seventy-seven fold.  Why do you think he came to this conclusion?

How do you come to conclusions?

Chapter 6 –

Did Noah have a good relationship with his sons?  Why or why not?

What thought of your heart is evil or has been evil?  Let the Spirit reveal this to you.  Please don’t move past this question.  Honesty with God will bring a better understanding of yourself with Him.
