When God is not King

Judges 14-21

Passage

The cycle the Israelites went through of appointing Judges to deliver them, and then turning away from God continued. Sampson has his great stories, and Micah provides relief, but the people of Israel continue to look at their neighbors with envy. In chapter 18 they begin to mention that “in those days their was no King over Israel.

They had forgotten the true King who had provided for them since the beginning of time. they also forgot what the difference between a king and God would provide. God has infinite power and wisdom, and can be called upon in tomes of trouble. However, a king has absolute authority and power over their subjects. He makes the laws and is not questioned.

What makes more sense, an earthly king with earthly values, or should we yield to a Heavenly King, who loves us and can provide peace in our lives.
