Exodus 2 & 3
PassageThis week we begin the story of Moses in Chapters 2 & 3 of Exodus with his birth and the time when he avenged a fellow Hebrew by killing an Egyptian Task Master. Later he defended a Midianite family who were watering their sheep. These stories give the perception that Moses may have been a tough guy who liked to take charge of a situation. However, we also see that there were times when he was afraid, mainly afraid of God’s actions.
At the burning bush God gives Moses a task to go and bring His people out of Egypt after 400 years of mistreatment as slaves so they could serve Him. We have been looking at God’s character over the last few weeks, and here again we can see that God knew of the mistreatment of His people, and he heard their cries for deliverance, but we also remember that God’s timing is not the same as ours.
The story around the exodus of the Israelites is not only about timing, but it reveals a bit about God’s love language. Some translations talk about God wanting His people to be set frre to “serve” Him. A more appropriate translation of the Hebrew term is “worship”. Listen to day as Danny talks about true worship and serving our God.
