Exodus 25-40
PassageThe story of the building of the tabernacle is filled with the detailed instructions from God on how He wanted the place He was to occupy be constructed. All the way down to the bases used to hold up the poles supporting the curtains. All this detail allowed the people to show they were capable of obeying God, even to the lowest level.
When He asked for people to help physically and financially, He wanted those with a heart for serving. When the people had raised enough to build the tabernacle, He told them to stop, which was also provided a test to show they were obedient. The goal was not to build the best tabernacle ever designed by man, but to follow the instruction of God, even when He said it is done.
Jesus also gave us instructions to love one another, even our enemies, and the make disciples. Today it is easy to get distracted by human thinking and try to make our own way to serve. We need to remember that Jesus’ instruction is simple, and it only costs us our commitment.
