Genesis 43-48
PassageAs we wrap up Genesis this week we can look back at the patriarchs, realizing they were mere men who were “Men of God”. We learn through Scripture that they knew that God is powerful, He hates sin, He brings judgement on sin, and His timing is different from ours. They did not have the Bible to teach this, but it was handed down from generation to generation.
They also learned from experience that God is all knowing, He has eternal purpose, He is faithful to keep His word, He is always with us, and their identity is in God. Through Genesis we do not see God mentioned as their Father, or other relationship context such as God’s love for us and their love of God. It was not what they knew, or their great teachings that classify them, but the way they responded to God is what classifies them as “Men of God”.
