After We Suffer

Hebrews 2:5-18

Passage

This week’s passage from the letter to the Hebrews talks about suffering, and as we look at history we can see that this topic is familiar with the target audience of the Jewish believers. The time of the letter was at the height of the attack on the church from the Romans, and many believers were experiencing oppression. The author of the letter reminds us that even through our suffering we need to remember that God is in control, even when it doesn’t look like it.

We see that Christ suffered while on the earth, even though He had the power to prevent it. As we go through times of suffering we are changed, but we have a choice in how it changes us. Do we draw closer to God and trust Him to get us through, or do we push away.  As our friends, families, and also enemies watch us go through suffering, we have an opportunity to demonstrate how God is using us in the suffering to help grow His Kingdom purpose.

Note: Due to technical issues from the power outage this week, there will be no video of the sermon available. We apologize for any inconvenience.
